Traditional knowledge and Biodiversity Conservation

Ever since men have entered into the new globalized world they have been witnessing a massive degradation of natural environment day by day. It is quite difficult to establish the fact that whether the contribution of humankind in deteriorating the environment is deliberate or not. Yet their so-called act of developing the human race has always incorporated a threat which has been undermining the very base of human sustenance. Rapid industrialization along with urbanization has enabled each and every nation to develop their economy up to the global standard. But some new challenging phenomenon like depletion of Ozone, CFCs (Chlorofluorocarbon), Green House gas, climate change, global warming, sustainable development, etc have mystified the future of coming generations. Some crucial discussions through Earth Summit, Kyoto Protocol, few observations of World Environment Day, etc have been made to tackle the rising burning problem. Yet the biggest concern stands affirm and that is the lack of conscious of the people. In this regard traditional knowledge system (TKS) may have the possible solution. For example, in India, through the usage of traditional knowledge people have been trying to pursue an alternative to this problem.

  2. yes, the TKS methodology is aplicably viable, but actually not put into practice in the areas concerned on natural habitat conservation. It may be however The Community Eco tourism. We have already watched the situation that prevails in the Kaziranga itself... It has been noted that the govt. of Assam has stuffed a lot of financial grants to promote the area on community Eco tourism, but the lack of regular and cohesive monitoring and awareness they are leading to a waste of course.. The society has not still aware of the natural ecological balance and all that stuff we are in common talking about. Theres a need to show up to them the adversities that could hurl upon them...Indeed it may be risky process....
